Line Boring Kit With a line boring machine, you can already handle around 70% of jobs.<\/strong> Over time, you can add equipment to your basic kit to suit the work you take on.<\/p>\n\n

A welding machine is used on most jobs. It\u2019s hard to do without one, although I know someone who doesn\u2019t weld at all. <\/p>\n\n

In around 5\u201310% of cases, you may need the kit for bores up to 30 mm. <\/a><\/strong>BORWELD\u2019s standard boring bar is 40 mm, so smaller bores require a smaller bar. The 20 mm kit<\/strong> <\/a>is needed even less often. We sell it, and we also use one ourselves for our service work \u2014 perhaps once a year. <\/p>\n\n

Another common question is about a bush press<\/a><\/strong>. Bushes need to be removed and pressed in on almost every job. It\u2019s essential equipment \u2014 and, by the way, we do this work free of charge. We have the kit in stock, so get in touch. It really is indispensable. <\/p>\n\n

We used to use gauge blocks to set the cutting tool height on smaller diameters. Now we have our own tool-setting device<\/a>, so the blocks are no longer needed. We think this device should be included in the Kit 30, with its cost added to the kit price. <\/p>\n\n

Cones<\/a><\/strong>, either assembled or split, are also used to support and align the boring bar.<\/p>\n\n

For accurate measurements, we have micrometers<\/a> covering diameters up to 700 mm. Honestly, it\u2019s hard to imagine measuring a diameter accurately with just a caliper. Some manufacturers don\u2019t even include a bore gauge in their kits \u2014 they don\u2019t seem to realize how important it is! <\/p>\n\n

\"Outside<\/figure>\n\n

Some equipment is only needed in unusual situations. For example, if a pin is seized, you may need special electrodes and a torch <\/a>to burn it out. This equipment is expensive and not required for every job. <\/p>\n\n

Short and long boring bars are used depending on the job. Customers often ask whether we offer a facing head. Yes, we do \u2014 but facing jobs don\u2019t come up very often, and sometimes it\u2019s quicker and easier to finish the face with a regular cutting tool. <\/p>\n\n

For on-site work, you may need a generator, as there isn\u2019t always a power supply available. We can provide one. A voltage stabiliser is not usually needed for our machines, though it can be useful with other equipment. <\/p>\n\n

For large diameters and highly accurate measurements, we use a total station. We used one when manufacturing parts for a port crane and repairing a Liebherr crane on a cargo ship. <\/p>\n\n

Sometimes you need to heat an ear or burn oil out of a gap \u2014 that\u2019s when a cutting torch comes in handy. Liquid nitrogen is another option, but it\u2019s expensive and more of a showpiece than an essential part of the kit. <\/p>\n\n

Start with the basic kit and add equipment as your jobs require it. And when you have more work coming in, consider getting a second machine \u2014 it will help you increase your capacity. <\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
