A mobile line boring machine from a practitioner.
We have been engaged in mobile boring for many years. During this time we have regenerated hundreds of holes – from mini-excavators to ships and offshore cranes, including work on shipyards, in furnace pipes and even at a height of 30 meters. Our experience includes truly non-standard and difficult cases: from regenerating 560 mm diameter holes in disposal furnace pipes to restoring holes in high wind conditions on a ship in Turkey.
Over the years we tested many machines from different manufacturers – from China, Turkey, Europe. They all had one common flaw: they were too big, too heavy or cost as much as a new car. Every time we tried to work in hard-to-reach places, we encountered the same problem: the equipment did not fit in terms of size and weight. At some point we said – enough. We know what an ideal portable boring machine should look like. That’s why we created our own.
Meet – Borweld Smart 40-1.0. It is the lightest, most compact, yet powerful mobile boring machine on the market. Weight – only 13.7 kg, length – 314 mm, and working range – from 22 to 250 mm. Yes, we have already heard: “small machine = weak”. But not here! We used servo motors for both rotation and feed, which allowed us to get a lot of power with minimal size.
The machine works with shafts from 400 mm and more. With it you can easily repair a hole in hard-to-reach places – for example, in the joint of a front-end loader. Just mount it from below and without additional combinations regenerate the hole. Similarly, in steering cylinders – space is limited and a large machine simply will not fit there.
It mounts easily between the boom lifting cylinder lugs on large excavators. It also works great on larger parts. Our boring machine is suitable for repairing any construction, forestry and agricultural machinery in the diameter range from 22 to 250 mm.

The experience gathered “in the field” and an excellent understanding of the tasks to be performed by the boring machines allowed us to design a machine that is as convenient and comfortable as possible to work with. There are no manual mechanisms – the control is fully automatic, intuitive. The machine is equipped with a screen showing the load of each motor, speed and direction of rotation. There is a fast feed, an emergency stop button and an intelligent overload protection system. For example, if you plunge the knife 20-30 mm – the motors will simply shut down. This is true anti-vandal protection.
Of course, like any machine, even the most durable can break down. What then? Usually you have to send a video to the manufacturer, try to repair remotely, and if it fails – send the machine back and lose time and customers. We propose something different: if you have an active extended warranty and something happens – within two business days we send a replacement machine so you can continue to make money, and we will repair your machine in the meantime.
The price? The basic set – 8500 euros + delivery. This is considerably less than the machines we used to buy ourselves for 12-14 thousand euros. Of course, there is speed and feed adjustment. The work is done with jointed or solid shafts – this provides flexibility and precision.
About the fair capabilities of the equipment: We have seen advertisements that a machine with a 40 mm shaft “calmly” regenerates holes up to 400 mm. This is usually said by people with no experience or dishonest sellers. And such arguments go only to beginners or those who are too trusting.
If you have a 40 mm shaft, there is no point in talking about holes larger than 250 mm. It’s like competing in a rally with a small city car. Maybe it will drive, but how effectively? For diameters over 250 mm you need a shaft of at least 50 mm. That’s why we honestly say: our machine does not do 400 mm – unlike those who have never held a wrench in their hands. We do not sell fairy tales.
However, if any customer wants to regenerate holes up to 400 mm – we can offer an additional kit to make this possible.
